A fire hydrant is a visible fixture placed inside or outside a building, parking area, industrial area, mine, roadside, etc. that is connected to the municipal or a private water service network. Fire hydrants are designed to instantly provide the water required by fire fighters to extinguish a fire.

In most cases, a fire hydrant is the primary method of firefighting in a municipal area. It is basically an outlet with a valve that provides water to the fire pumps or fire jeeps engaged in firefighting. Laws for keeping operational fire hydrants at specific intervals and with free access in buildings, factories, urban and developed areas are an important component of fire control and safety.

أنظمة مآخذ ( فوهات) الحريق الخارجية Fire Hydrant Systems توزع في الشوارع والساحات الخاصة بالمبانى وهي مكملة لمعدات الحريق المتواجدة داخل تلك المبانى وفقا لشروط الترخيص، وكذلك في الشوارع العامة، كجزء من شبكة المياه العامة في المدينة . وتهدف مآخذ الحريق Fire Hydrants الخارجية حماية المباني من الخارج، وتكون مآخذ تحت الأرض أو مآخذ قائمة، ويتم تغذيتها من شبكة أنابيب مدفونة، والتي يتم تغذيتها بدورها من مصدر مياه مناسب .
